Laziest bunch of admins - orkut
For one, they do almost no policing (and when they do, it is pretty arbitrary from what I was told).
What the hell is with that !
Second, they expect people to raise issues - fair enough, not expecting arbitrarily large networks to be spam/offense/etc free ... but it is the attitude with which they respond to the compliants which is galling.
You point out very very clear violation of terms of use - because that profile is spamming (for example) ... and yet you get back a canned response
"Based on our review and consideration of Orkut's terms of service, we understand that this content does not currently break any policies on Orkut. If you believe that a mistake has been made, please re-submit your complaint with additional information to help our support team better understand your concerns with this content."
What the hell is with that !
This is not the first time I am getting this - and I am told, most others get the same.
The number of spammers in orkut is quite high ... and their 'solutions' are not practical (only friends can post, etc) ... they should stop hiring substandard jerks or outsource to some shoddy thirdparty and hopefully do something more sensible.
On the flip side, you have facebook - which goes ballistic and is overly policed ... all weird shades : maybe a tough problem in first place and I am not seeing most of the complexity involved ...
Speaking of orkut, I noticed a new 'optimization' they have added - they dont show the user pic until you explictly select it (ostensibly the 'low bandwidth version') :-) I am sure a whole bunch of google fanboys will find convulated reasons to justify it ... but since that is the default, methinks it is basically a case of their thumbnail serving not being able to keep up with the load :-) Just like what is happening with youtube

Agreed! You take the time to report people who are spamming, and this is the response you get.
